CLUE 1:  Part 2:

Cutting directions:

Color 3:  Cut 2 strips WOF (width of fabric) 3 1/2"
              Subcut into 3 1/2" squares
              Need 16

Color 2:   Cut 2 strips WOF (width of fabric) 4 1/2"
              Subcut into rectangles 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"

Need 32

Pre-sewing directions: On WS (wrong side) of 3 1/2" square, finger press the middle of the square at the top.  Place a pencil mark 1/4" down from top.  At the bottom of the square, mark 1/4" up and in from both cornters.  Draw a pencil on WS of square from top middle to bottom right dot and again from top to bottom left dot.  Continue the lines to the edges.  This is your sewing line.

Sewing directions:  Place Color 3 square and a Color 2 rectangle RST.  Have the square facing you.  This way you can see the pencil lines on square.  This is an angled placement.

Sew from middle down to bottom left.  Press seam toward rectangle.  Do this again for the 2nd rectangle.  Sew from bottom to top.  Press toward rectangle.

With wrong side of of square facing you, trim up the square.  This should be a 3 1/2" square.

Now, with the right side facing you, flip the top right corner of Color 2 fabric down.  This leaves the Color 3 square showing in this upper right corner.  Trim the seam allowance down to 1/4".  Do the same for the left side.

Label as D.  Need 16.
